楽園

雷鳴がとどろき、いかづちに焼かれた樹木が立ち並ぶ大地を、わたしはあてもなくさまよった。 　星も見えない暗い空が幾日も地上をおおっていた。 　 　荒れ果てた野と山をいくつか越えた場所にその楽園はあった。そこは人の五感をまどわす巨大な女神が支配する場所であり、色とりどりの眼も眩むような人工の光に溢れ、途切れぬ官能と、いつわりの幸福を、おとずれる者たちに無尽蔵にめぐみ与えていた。偽の昼の輝きによって、夜に疲れた人びとが、はかない慰めを得ようとしていた。 　その楽園に足を踏み入れたわたしは、そこに居た彼らと同じように、たちまち愉悦の毒におかされた。

A Paradise

As thunder rumbled, I wandered aimlessly the earth lined with trees burnt by lighting. Without the stars, the dark sky covered the ground for many days. There was a paradise to be found beyond the desolate mountains and fields. A giant goddess who deceives all human senses ruled the place, full of dazzling multi- colored unnatural light. She had unfailingly given a continuous pleasure and a false happiness to all who would visit. Humans, tiring of the night, try to receive fleeting comfort by the glow of a false noon. I had set foot in the paradise. I was attacked immediately by a dissolute indulgence of sensual pleasure, the same as humans that lingered there.
